Socrates Café

About this event

Body
Quigley Library is hosting a series of one-hour discussions for students and faculty together this fall. It uses the model of the Socrates Cafe, an international form of community sharing on topics of interest.  Each session is led by someone who honors the expression of all viewpoints. Background on a topic may be offered briefly by a knowledgeable person.  The topic will be announced ahead of time.

As a convenor for the series, Frederick Persiko ("Bo") taught philosophy and psychology courses at CMC for 28 years.  He still teaches an occasional non-credit course.  His degree is in counseling and religions. He was a clinical social worker and worked in community mental health.  He continues to see a few clients.  Early in his career he was a community organizer in the civil rights movement of the 1960's and 1970's.  He has enjoyed the Roaring Fork Valley with his wife, sons, daughter and grandchildren.
