Through Generosity: the founding of CMC and Quigley Library

Built in 1976 and originally named The Learning Resource Center, Quigley Library was one of the two original permanent buildings constructed at Spring Valley campus. At the time, it was considered to be on "the cutting edge of college architecture at the time" for its passive solar design.

Quigley was renamed on October 22, 1984, after James V. Quigley (1910 - 1984), his brother, Daniel Patrick Quigley (1914 - 2005), and Dan's wife Ellen (1913 - 2010), who led the effort of their Spring Valley ranching neighbors to each donation a portion of their land for what would become the Spring Valley campus. In recognition of their support, each of those families' ranching brands, along with CMC's, can be seen on the mantle in the Fireplace Room.

Representatives of the founding families that donated land to Spring Valley campus pose with a board bearing their ranching brands.
