Evaluating Information

Definitions

Erica's definition: Information Literacy is the evaluation of information that we encounter everyday.

As defined by the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL): "Information literacy is the set of integrated abilities encompassing the reflective discovery of information, the understanding of how information is produced and valued, and the use of information in creating new knowledge and participating ethically in communities of learning."

Media bias includes opinions being represented as fact, facts being distorted or omitted, and loaded language that gives the impression of events or people in a light that is untrue and meant to sway the reader’s opinion instead of inform them.
