CMC Libraries: Instructional Services

Instructional Services

In-Class Workshops

You can invite a librarian to provide an in-class workshop for your students, focusing specifically on your research assignments. Contact your campus librarian to make arrangements.

Library Modules in Canvas Commons

The libraries provide comprehensive lessons designed to introduce students to the research process. Research modules are now available directly in Canvas, through Canvas Commons. Each library module is complete with the list of appropriate video tutorials and a quiz. Faculty can choose from the list of modules and import the one that will work best for their course.

Online Video Tutorials

The libraries use YouTube to offer a wide variety of instructional video tutorials.

Embedded Librarian

Upon instructor’s request, a librarian can be embedded directly into the Canvas course. Embedded librarian model allows faculty and librarians to work closely together to facilitate research instruction. The role of the librarian might vary greatly, depending on the instructor’s needs and preferences, but here are a few possibilities. A librarian can:

  • Offer individual attention to students during any stage of their research process
  • Provide specially designed content for the course, including tutorials, suggested resources, and search strategies

If you are interested, please contact your campus library for additional information.

Ask a Librarian Service

Librarians are always happy to meet with you or your students for one-on-one research consultations. Ask a Librarian service is available face-to-face, over the phone, and online.
