Library Cards
Students are automatically issued a library account upon registration for classes. If you are not a student, the CMC Steamboat Campus Library generally issues library cards in person to community members. Please bring your Drivers License with you. If you are unable to come into the Library in person, you can use this form to obtain a library card.
Off-Campus Access to Library Resources
Many of our electronic resources are available to you even when you are not physically located on the CMC campus, or on a CMC network connection. See these instructions to learn about how to get online with our resources from the comfort of your home, the great outdoors, or wherever you can get a good wireless connection!
Resources can take on many different forms. Journal articles, newspaper articles, books, musical scores, primary source materials, librarians, other people - all are valid and you'll want to take note of what is required for each specific assignment you are given.
Your assignments require you to research various aspects of music, so here are a few easy and professional ways to do that:
Books & Ebooks
Books and ebooks are found through the CMC Libraries' catalog. Simply to go the Libraries' homepage and do your search in the 2nd search box down. You can search by title, author, subject or a keyword - it's easy! Then when you have your results, narrow them down by using the limiters on the left side of the page.
Databases
NAXOS Music Library: This is one of the databases that the CMC Libraries subscribe to and it contains over 1.5 million tracts as of January 2015. You conduct research in a number of ways, including by name of musical artist, by genre, or by label. There are also study resources in the databases which offer very through histories of a number of styles of music.
You can find the NAXOS Music Library by going to the Libraries' Databases A-Z list and looking under 'N', or you can click this link.
EBSCO Discovery Service: This resource will provide you with thousands of articles related to the artist you are interested in - it may take a little more sifting through to find what you need but it will have valuable information for you to use. To access the EBSCO Discovery Service, just go to the Libraries' homepage at http://library.coloradomtn.edu and type the name of the artist in the first search box you will see on the page. From there, you can limit the information you find (which will likely be overwhelming!) by using the limiters down the left side of the page. You can cite your resources by using the 'Cite' link which is located on the right side of the page.
YOU CAN ALWAYS ASK THE LIBRARIANS AND LIBRARY STAFF FOR HELP - THAT'S WHY WE ARE HERE!
